A Chat

This post is just a chat. No planning, no in-depth discussion. Just my rambling train of thought. So grab a cup of tea. I’ll wait…

Got tea? Good.

The reason that this post isn’t planned out is partly because I wasn’t well last week and that means I’ve got behind on most of the things I’m supposed to be doing. As much as I wish it did, time doesn’t wait for you to get better, deadlines keep ticking along. So I haven’t had the time or brain-power to think about and plan this post.

To be honest, it’s not the first time. I do love having this space to talk about what I’m doing and discuss music- and creativity-related topics, but sometimes I worry that what I’m writing isn’t enough. It’s not engaging enough, or interesting enough, or I haven’t done enough in the last week to really update you guys on anything. As I’ve said many times, I’m not a writer. It seems quite strange to me that my choice of career path has led to me posting a piece of writing every week that can be seen by anyone who stumbles across it. If I thought about it too much, I’d probably panic and find it even more difficult to post. So, I don’t think about it and just post things that I’d want to discuss whether in a blog or in conversation.

This isn’t meant to be ‘oh, poor me’. Writing a post every week isn’t that difficult, as long as I can think of something that might interest people. There are certainly much harder jobs! But I do sometimes feel the pressure of it having to be ‘good’ every week.

Recently, I’ve been wondering about trying something different with this space and doing something more like a podcast, more like an actual chat. Perhaps that would feel like more of a connection than a written blog? I really feel that creativity should be accessible to everyone, and therefore creatives should also feel accessible rather than talented geniuses living in their ivory towers of creativity. And perhaps an audio-based blog will feel more like an equal conversation than a word-based blog…

That might happen, it might not. I’m still thinking about it. Like I said, this is just a ramble.

Oh, and before you go, have a look around the website. I’ve updated it over the last week to hopefully make it easier to find everything. Let me know what you think – any (constructive) comments welcome!

Well, I hope you’ve enjoyed my ramblings. I’d love to hear your thoughts on anything I’ve mentioned 🙂
