As an adult learning violin for the very first time, Rachel was an incredibly patient teacher. She always explained herself clearly, and lessons were a lot of fun as well! I would recommend her lessons for any beginners looking to try something new 🙂

My daughter has been having piano lessons with Rachel for about 4 years now and we have always found her to be a very patient, reliable and brilliant teacher. Rachel is a dedicated but easy-going teacher and my daughter felt comfortable with her from day 1. She never feels pressured and is always happy to […]

Rachel’s choral arranging lessons have eased me back into music study after a gap of many years! She is encouraging but with an appropriate level of challenge. Now with a couple of pieces arranged and ready for my community choir to learn, I am very pleased with the outcome of the lessons. I would definitely […]

Rachel is a superb teacher who I cannot recommend highly enough. She is extremely reliable and we have seen real progress in our daughter’s playing thanks to her. She has a lovely relationship with our daughter too.

Enhancing creative skills is at the core of any music lessons that I teach. Music is not just about playing the right notes, it’s about communication, self-expression and enjoyment. I have taught music in many different settings with both adults and children, from individual instrumental tuition to larger composition workshops.
I currently offer lessons for Piano, Violin, Voice, Composition and Music Theory. My rates are £15.00 for 30 minutes or £25.00 for an hour. As I am committed to providing affordable lessons, I also offer group lessons at a reduced price per pupil and discounts for families with more than one pupil (child or adult!) being taught by me. If you are interested in this, please get in touch for more details.
Music in the classroom
Working with children to create music is one of my favourite parts of being a musician. I’m always surprised at how creative children can be and the music they create when they are freed from any ‘rules’ is just fantastic.
Below you can see a variety of works that were created in my group sessions with children in schools.
The Growth Mindset song was written by children at St Thomas of Canterbury Primary School to encourage other children to use a Growth Mindset.
The children at STOC Music Club wrote and performed their own graphic scores.
E-Safety Rocks! encourages other children to stay safe online.
